Pitru Paksha: Dates, Puja vidhi, Rituals, Rules of Shraddha

Pitru paksha is a 16 days period of Shraddha (sraddh) from Bhadrapada purnima to  Sarva pitru amavasya . It is also known as Shraddha Paksha. In these period; Hindus pay homage to their ancestor, especially through food offerings.  Pitru Paksha  is considered by Hindus to be inauspicious, given the death rite performed during the ceremony, known as Shraddha or Tarpan. Radha ashtami is celebrated as birth anniversary of Goddess Radha. It falls on ashtami tithi during shukla paksha of  Bhadrapada month . Radha Ashtami is also known as Radha Jayanti or Radhashtami. This  festival  is celebrated mainly by devotees of Krishna, especially with great enthusiasm in her birthplace of Barsana. This is also an important festival in  ISKCON temples  all over the country as well as abroad.
