Deepavali arrived from the word “deep” and “avali” means a row or line of diyas. In 2017 Diwali falls on 19th October. Deepavali or Diwali which is one of the brightest and significant festivals amongst all the Hindu festivals.  The enthusiasm and the preparation going on since last many days, finally in the form of lights illuminating and dazzling everywhere marks the day of Deepawali. Day 3 Diwali – Narak Chaturdashi and Choti Diwali

The third day of Diwali which will fall on 18th October 2017, is observed as Narak Chaturdashi or RoopChaudash or Roop Chaturdashi. It is also referred as Choti Diwali as it falls just a day before the festival Diwali.  It is said to be the day which removes the evil inside. The rituals are region specific and followed by people according to the mythological happenings they believe.  In some places, this day is celebrated as Kali Chaudas. Kali means Black i.e. dark and Chaudas means fourteenth. It is celebrated on the fourteenth day of the dark half of the Kartik month.
