Navratri Puja Vidhi 2017
Navratri rituals are considered to be very auspicious as they bring in the most powerful blessings of Goddess Durga. This festival of Navratri is usually followed by people in Northern India. It is a very sacred observation of 9 days where the 9 forms of the Goddess are worshiped. In this busy schedule, you can perform all the basic requirements of Navratri by yourself at your home. The step by step procedure and an elaborate list of the Puja samagri are given below.
Puja Samagri For Navratri
- Picture or Idol of Goddess Durga
- Durga Sapthashati book
- A red dupatta or sari
- Water in Kalash, Mango leaves, and coconut
- Fresh grass and flowers
- Sandalwood
- Roli, red sacred powder for Tilak
- Cloves, cardamom, sindoor, abhir, gulal
- Rice
- betel nuts
- Paan
- Panchamrita
- dhoop, diya, kapoor and matchsticks
- fresh fruits and sweets
- Jhuwara – On the first day of Navratri, take a large earthen pot with a wide mouth, put some sand in it and plant either jaun or wheat kernels which have been soaked the previous night. Every day a little water is sprinkled over them and they are put in sunlight for a short time for germination.
Step by step Puja Vidhi
Ghata sthapana
Place the Durga idol in a chowki and near it keep the clay pot with sown barley. Consider doing Ghata sthapana during the Muhurat

Establish the Kalash
Pour water in a Kalash and then put flowers, coins and five mango leaves in it. Close it with the lid and put raw rice on top of it and then place a raw coconut wrapped in red cloth. The Ghata Sthapana is done now.
Worship the Goddess
First lit a diya in front of the idols. Do worship of Kalash or Ghat with Panchopchar. Panchopchar means worship of the deity with five things, i.e. Scent, Flower, Dhoop, Deepak, and Naivedya. Offer these five things to deities present in Ghat.
Chowki Sthapana
You need to install and invoke Goddess Durga. For this, spread the red cloth on chowki. Tie Moli around it. Now place idol or picture of Goddess Durga on the chowki.read more..
