Kartika Purnima Regional Celebration and Significance

Kartika Purnima is celebrated on the fifth lunar day (full moon day) of the  Kartika  month . This festival is marked as the day to worship many gods such as –Lord Vishnu, Lord  Shiva ,  Kartikeya  and Goddess  Tulsi . Every festival has some associated significance and the celebration of the fest predominately depends on the region and the states. Kartika Purnima  is a renowned Hindu Festival which falls on the last of ‘Kartika Month’. It is observed on the full moon day and the fifteenth lunar day of ‘Shukla Paksha’. It is also famed as ‘Deva Diwali’ and ‘ Tripuri Purnima ’ and is the most God-fearing month for Hindus, Sikhs, and Jains. Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are worshiped together in various temples. Devotees observe fast on this day and take a bathe in the holy rivers before sunrise to please gods. In ‘Pushkar’ (Rajasthan) a famous Fair ( Mela ) is organized to celebrate this holy fest. कार्तिक पूर्णिमा महात्मय (Kartik Poornima Mahatya) कार्तिक पूर्णिमा को त्रिपुरी पूर्णिमा(KartikTripuri Poornima) के नाम से भी जाना जाता है. इस पुर्णिमा को त्रिपुरी पूर्णिमा की संज्ञा इसलिए दी गई है क्योंकि कार्तिक पूर्णिमा के दिन ही भगवान भोलेनाथ ने त्रिपुरासुर नामक महाभयानक असुर का अंत किया था और वे त्रिपुरारी के रूप में पूजित हुए थे. ऐसी मान्यता है कि इस दिन कृतिका नक्षत्र में शिव शंकर के दर्शन करने से सात जन्म तक व्यक्ति ज्ञानी और धनवान होता है. इस दिन चन्द्र जब आकाश में उदित हो रहा हो उस समय शिवा, संभूति, संतति, प्रीति, अनुसूया और क्षमा इन छ: कृतिकाओं का पूजन करने से शिव जी की प्रसन्नता प्राप्त होती है. मान्यता यह भी है कि इस दिन पूरे दिन व्रत रखकर रात्रि में वृषदान यानी बछड़ा दान करने से शिवपद की प्राप्ति होती है. जो व्यक्ति इस दिन उपवास करके भगवान भोलेनाथ का भजन और गुणगान करता है उसे अग्निष्टोम नामक यज्ञ का फल प्राप्त होता है. इस पूर्णिमा को शैव मत में जितनी मान्यता मिली है उतनी ही वैष्णव मत में भी. वैष्णव मत में इस कार्तिक पूर्णिमा को बहुत अधिक मान्यता...
