The most sacred book of Hinduism “Bhagavad Gita”, states that nature consists of three primal qualities which are the main powers of cosmic intelligence. These form the reasons for our spiritual growth. These are termed as ‘Gunas’ in Sanskrit. They are as follows:

• Sattva: Intelligence
• Rajas: Energy
• Tamas: Substance

According to Shastras we need to observe the Sattvas obtained by women to understand them better. So, before knowing the different kinds of women let’s understand what actually Sattva is?

Sattva is the quality of intelligence, virtue and goodness which tends to create harmony, balance and stability. Sattva provides happiness and contentment of a lasting nature. It is the principle of clarity, wideness and peace – the force of love that unites all things together.

Based on these Sattvas, Shastra has differentiated women into 9 different categories.

Devasattvastri – Pious & compassionate

Nature

The Devasatvastri – the best form of women. She always seems lively and cheerful. She is often quite intelligent, wealthy and industrious. Never do they get tired or displeased by there friends or relatives. She has a tender heart and is much attached to her husband.

Apperance

A Devasatvastri presents a very kind nature, speaks softly and has a very sweet voice. They are beautiful and perfect in physical appearance as well (resembling a well sculpted statue). These woman have faces like a Lotus flower, a long nose, big eyes and fertile breasts. They are very affectionate and child like in their utterances. It is believed that her perspiration is perfumed like the lotus-flower.

Choices

She prefers whites clothes and fine jewelry. She eats little but is very fond of food. Sleeps lightly and has a very religious bent of mind.

The Devasatvastris are born in any of the following four stars:

• Uthiram
• Anusham
• Thiruvonam
• Uthirattathi

Gandharvasttvastri: Feminine & creative

Nature

They are sweet in speech and are very graceful. Being clever they also present purity in thoughts. To some extent, they are proud but are sincere in their love towards her relatives. They show immense affection to their husbands.

Appearance

They have slender bodies, long eyebrows, big eyes, and well ordered teeth. They usually posses a fair complexion and have curly hair.

Choices

They exactly know how to show love and are very passionate. Being a creative soul, they are inclined towards arts, singing and dancing. Along with all these they have a strong affinity towards luxury.

Gandharvasatvastri are born in any of these three stars:

• Ashwini
• Avittam
• Sathayam
