There are a number old works in Sanskrit which sing the glories of Odisha in general and of Puri in particular. The temple consists of four structures called the Vimana or Bada Deula sanctum sanctorum, the Jagamohan or Mukhasala, the Natamandir and the Bhogamandap built in a row in an axial alignment in an east-west direction.
